ROYS CHEVROLET BUICK GMC INC
A CHRONICLE OF ROY'S GMC
Roy's Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck Centre Inc. has gone through various stages since the creation of the company in 1963, by two brothers, Roger and Gilles Roy that formerly owned a used car dealership. When General Motors opted to have a second Dealership in the Glengarry area, having Glengarry Motor Sales down the road from the future site of Roy's Garage, the Roy brothers were the first ones approached. They built the dealership from a White Rose gas station. Roger became the Dealer Principal and Gilles became the Service Manager.
In 1989 a young man from Gatineau, purchased the Dealership from Roger Roy. This man was Robert Labonté. He was raised in the automotive industry in the Ottawa region.Young, talented, determined and full of ideas, Bob made many changes to the Dealership.
Robert Labonté passed away in March 2003 after 14 years of dedicated contribution to the Roy's Pontiac Buick Cadillac GMC legacy. Wanting to keep the business in the family, his wife Sylvie Anne assumed the interim position and in October 2004, was appointed Dealer Principle by General Motors.
